Women's Division

The Keren Or Women’s Division 2013-14 season is currently in full swing. Response to our membership appeal has been outstanding, with a record breaking number of generous donors reaping the benefits of Leadership Circle membership, which this year includes an exclusive tour at the Frick Museum featuring Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Hals: Masterpieces of Dutch Painting from Mauritshuis,  paintings on loan from The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis, The Hague.Bar/Bat Mitzvah

The season’s activities were launched with an entertaining Evening at the Theater in September for a performance of the musical, SOUL DOCTOR.  We continue to boast a variety of our signature, docent-led museum tour, with more wonderful cultural activities on the horizon.
In October, a group of committed women enjoyed an afternoon at The Museum of Art and Design, viewing the eye-opening display of one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earring from Fashion Jewelry:The Collection of Barbara Berger

November’s destination was The New York Historical Society Museum to see The Armory Show at 100, Modern Art and Revolution, and December found us at the Jewish Museum for two outstanding exhibits, Chagall: Love, War, and Exile and Art Spiegelman’s Co-Mix: A Retrospective.  Coming up on March 4th will be a visit to the Guggenheim Museum for Kadinsky in Paris 1934-1944.

On the heels of last year’s very successful day at the Barnes Foundation and Rodin Museums in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, two whirlwind day trips are planned for the coming months: Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut, slated for late February; and in early spring, a visit to The Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, coupled with Kykuit: The Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow, New York.

Women's Division Gala Luncheon

Please save the date for our upcoming, much anticipated Annual Gala Spring Luncheon - Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Park Avenue Synagogue.  Honorees will be announced shortly.  This is always an exciting and elegant afternoon, and we are confident that this year’s event will be magnificent.  Our 2013 luncheon was held on May 1, 2013.  Chaired by Nicole Appleman, Sherry Grabie, Judy Levine, Betsy Lopata, Etella Marcovici and Linda Rothschild, every detail was perfectly arranged and executed. Our Guest of Honor was Women’s Division board member, Bina Blumenfrucht, who accepted the Shining Light Award. Our able Young Leadership co-chairs included Jordona Brandler, Elana Dushey, Sarette Hornblass, Kari Levine, Alisa Olina and Shira Perl and a Young Leadership Award was presented to Ilana (Bughie) Lawrence.

Proceeds from the luncheon and all Women's Division initiatives go toward enrichment programs for the students of Keren Or which are not included in our regular budget. This includes early intervention and summer camp programs.

If you have not as yet done so, we hope you will join or renew your membership for the 2013-14 season. We welcome your participation in our activities throughout the year and look forward to greeting you at the May 12th luncheon.
